Funeral services in Oklahoma can run hot, cold, windy, and humid — sometimes in the same day. If you're sending flowers, you want stems that hold from delivery through the service and look good in the photos the family will keep.
Here's what we recommend at the studio, why, and what we steer people away from.
What holds in Oklahoma weather
Standard sympathy choices that perform:
- Carnations. Underrated. Cheap, beautiful, hold for a week.
- Chrysanthemums. Workhorse flower. Almost indestructible.
- Lilies. Strong stems, dramatic, slow to wilt.
- Roses (standard, not garden). Hold well if conditioned right.
- Snapdragons. Tall, sturdy, wonderful for casket sprays.
- Greenery — eucalyptus, ferns, salal. Frame everything. Last forever.
What we suggest avoiding
- Hydrangeas in summer outdoor services. They wilt fast in Oklahoma heat. Beautiful indoors only.
- Garden roses for outdoor afternoon services. Stunning but fragile.
- Wildflowers for formal services. Right look, wrong context — they don't hold up to sustained heat.
What to spend
A simple sympathy bouquet sent to the family's home: $60–$120. A standing easel arrangement at the funeral home: $150–$300. A casket spray: $250–$700 depending on size and full vs. half couch.
Timing matters more than flowers
Same-day delivery is everything for funeral work. If you order before 11am we can usually deliver to OKC funeral homes that afternoon. After that, we can promise next-morning. Tell us the service date and time and we'll work backwards from there.
